Briefly share your career trajectory and what originally brought you to ONEIL.
Honestly, ONEIL found me through the “Ohio Means Jobs” program. I had returned to Dayton from Afghanistan and was looking for what opportunities that might be a fit for me. I spent 10 years as a Bradley mechanic in the Army, and 17 years working as a contractor maintaining heavy vehicles for the Army and United States Marine Corps. I never imagined that I would be part of writing the very manuals I used to complain about in the field. I wasn’t sure at first if I could get a grasp of writing manuals and it was a struggle, but I caught on and like it. My plan is to continue with ONEIL until retirement; there is no better place for me to work.
What do you enjoy most about your work at ONEIL?
What I enjoy about ONEIL is the work environment. The people are pleasant and professional, the leadership is very helpful and understanding. I do enjoy the work itself, chasing down circuits and wiring for troubleshooting. The company has demonstrated that it cares about its employees and is very supportive. I also enjoy the occasional travel as well, to places I haven’t been to before.
What motivates you to go above and beyond in your role?
The whole atmosphere at ONEIL is a motivator. It’s a great place to work and I don’t like seeing people give up on themselves. I had my doubts about myself, but with help from others, I pulled through. I believe ONEIL is a very beneficial place to work, and I hope to be able to motivate others to improve and stick around.
