ONEIL is dedicated to creating a positive impact in the local communities where we operate. Businesses make communities stronger, and we’re honored to actively create a community our team, neighbors, and friends are proud to be part of. ONEIL gives back by supporting local education systems, providing a center and source of education for future leaders, and by helping through community service and charitable contributions. We see community involvement as community investment, and we’re committed to cultivating a culture that sees the value.
Established in 1993 with a charter of bringing hope and happiness to others, the ONEIL Helping Hands Committee has helped families and agencies in a variety of ways ranging from, but not limited to, Latch Key Program, Back to School Shoes, Adopt-A-Family, and scholarships.
Annually, ONEIL awards a scholarship to a local student who demonstrates strong community involvement and academic achievement. The scholarship is named after ONEIL’s founder and is entirely funded by the employees of ONEIL. Criteria for the Larry E. O’Neil Scholarship include academic achievement, community involvement, ACT and SAT scores, and letters of recommendation. Applicants are asked to write a 500-word essay describing their candidacy for the committee. | For More Information
One of the most important ONEIL benefits is our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) retirement plan. Through it, all employees become beneficial owners of our company. The ESOP provides associates with a unique opportunity to directly benefit from all daily efforts serving our customers, providing quality products, and growing the company’s value. With an ESOP, we all succeed together. While the program contributes to the individual wealth and success of the company, it also assures our customers that each employee-owner is a fundamental stakeholder in the quality and success of the work we produce each day. | Learn More
Created in 2017, the Passion Fund honors the legacy of ONEIL’s late President, Bob Heilman, by helping to fund the personal passion of one associate each year. Heilman was known for his enthusiasm in supporting others in pursuit of their dreams.
The Robert J. Heilman Fellowship is a way to honor the legacy of our past President and CEO, recognizing his contributions to ONEIL and pay it forward. Bob valued integrity, dedication, loyalty, and a drive for innovation. ONEIL teamed with Wright State University to create the ONEIL Center for Research Communication and Robert J. Heilman Fellowship to memorialize Bob’s commitment to excellence in technical communication. To date, there have been two Heilman Fellows. Mitesh Vosoya the first fellow, participated in a co-op at ONEIL and contributed to ONEIL’s prototype development for Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) leveraging Microsoft HoloLens technologies. Dixit Patel is the second fellow recipient. As part of the fellowship, Dixit’s dissertation topic was titled “Use of VR/AR and AI-Powered Serious Games for Complex Professional Skills Development”.

ONEIL annually participates in a project for the Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL®) Virtual Summer Program, a partnership with the Air Force Research Lab and the Dayton Regional STEM School in Kettering, Ohio.
The GRILL program brings together Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educators and student interns who spend their summers at the GRILL developing content to utilize in local classrooms, businesses, and Air Force research. Students work hands-on with game engines and related technology and are given opportunities to exercise their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Outcomes of these efforts include high school courses, open-ended challenge problems and instructional guides, capstone project templates, and evaluations of modeling and simulation technologies.
In 2021, the goal was to create an application utilizing AR and mobile devices to aid maintenance personnel by developing technical user instructions. Specifically, they were to create mobile device support, generate 3D objects, and develop step-by-step instructions. | Learn More
