Please join us in congratulating Marty Graham on receiving the Employee-Owner of the Quarter (EOQ) award! The EOQ award recognizes and shows appreciation to an employee-owner who demonstrated exceptional performance over the previous quarter. For all his work with program management and other major initiatives, we are proud to present Marty with the Q3 2022 award.

According to Brent Hoffhines, Marty’s manager, “Marty is renowned as ONEIL’s subject matter expert on the operation and repair procedures for Siemens locomotives. Marty is the first in the building every day, and his work ethic is evident from the time he arrives. He produces high-quality manuals for our partners and trains and mentors others to do the same. Marty is an integral part of our team, and I couldn’t be more proud to have him aboard!”

Marty Graham has been an employee-owner since late 2009. Over the course of the last 13 years, he has exemplified our values with consistency, patience, professionalism, and high-quality work. He started at ONEIL as a Technical Writer I, working on the International Truck program. Combining 20-plus years of experience as a truck mechanic, diesel engine technician, and shop foreman, Marty immediately became a key contributor.

Best known here at ONEIL for his role as Maintenance Lead (technical writer) on the Siemens Mobility programs, Marty has played a key role in every Siemens Mobility program dating back to 2010 when they first became our partners. His contributions are a big reason why this account is still growing and evolving.

In addition to International Truck and Siemens Mobility, Marty has earned high marks while working for other clients like Caterpillar and United Grinding. Not only has he been an asset to the Commercial Strategic Business Unit (SBU), he’s also been a top performer lending his talents to our Defense SBU. Regardless of his role, project, or even the business unit he’s supporting, his one-of-a-kind work ethic, willingness to go above and beyond to satisfy the customer, and ability to still make big contributions to profits are all staples of Marty’s work.

Marty has also been a pivotal part of our Workshop Team. His background as a top-level diesel engine technician makes him a go-to resource for all things mechanical and troubleshooting in nature. He is a licensed forklift operator, holds a Class A Commercial Driver’s License, and is a part of the Safety committee.

We asked Marty to share his thoughts about his ONEIL career.

Briefly share your career trajectory and what originally brought you to ONEIL.
At ONEIL, the Navistar project was growing and in need of additional resources. A team member (Kelly Metcalf) I had worked with in the past thought that position would be a good fit for me. I applied for the position and was hired by Chuck Sasser in December 2009 as a Technical Writer I to support the Navistar/CAT projects.

What do you enjoy most about your work at ONEIL?
I enjoy all of it: working with people both at ONEIL and our customers, figuring out how things work, and refining processes to support different projects. I like to learn new things and to share the wealth with fellow team members as those did before me.

What motivates you to go above and beyond in your role?
I like to see our projects be successful and receive repeat business from our customer that chooses us over others for no other reason than the quality and level of support we provided and the relationship(s) we have built. Navistar used to refer to ONEIL as their “Easy Button” to find the answer.

Marty’s work ethic, leadership and ability to proactively adapt to situations as they arise make us proud to have him on our team, and we look forward to even more of his outstanding contributions in the future.
