Program Manager Jason Ferguson Receives Employee-Owner of the Quarter Award
Please join us in congratulating Jason Ferguson on receiving the Employee-Owner of the Quarter (EOQ) award! The EOQ award recognizes and shows appreciation to an employee-owner who demonstrated exceptional performance over the previous quarter. For all his work with program management, and other major initiatives, we are proud to present Jason with the Q2 2022 award.
According to Jessica Schwartzmiller, Jason’s manager, “Jason is known for being passionate, which is evidenced by his hard work ethic, and for always trying to do what is right for the customer and his fellow team members. Jason is an excellent mentor and trainer and takes time to carefully explain the ‘why’ behind the ‘ask’. Jason’s humor helps make working for him (and with him) entertaining, to say the least.
With the recent departure of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Project Lead, Jason – as JLTV Program Manager – did not skip a beat and jumped into action with solutions and ideas for how the team could continue making progress. Jason’s work ethic is contagious, and his leadership is exemplary. “
Jason joined ONEIL in December 2001 as a Technical Writer Trainee and enjoyed working on some of the key projects including Pierce Aerial and Tactical Fire Fighting Truck (TFFT), later followed by Family of Technical Vehicles (FHTV) Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET), Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT), and Palletized Load System (PLS) . He has since worked his way up to Program Manager and now oversees some of Oshkosh Corporation’s most difficult programs including the JLTV, Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), and Military All-Terrain Vehicle (MATV).
We asked Jason to share his thoughts about his ONEIL career.
Briefly share your career trajectory and what originally brought you to ONEIL.
I, like many, was suggested by a friend/family member. In my case, Tony Fox (my uncle) suggested that my dad (Bill Ferguson) would be a good fit and after a year of working at ONEIL my dad and Tony thought I would be a good fit, so I applied. I was then hired in December 2001 as a Technical Writer Trainee.
What do you enjoy most about your work at ONEIL?
I enjoy the people and the challenges. No day is ever the same and the people I have met/worked with over the past 20 years have made me into the person I am today.
What motivates you to go above and beyond in your role?
My fellow teammates motivate me to go above and beyond. I see myself in a lot of the new writers, and I want to help them as much as others have helped me along my journey. I hope they understand and appreciate that it does not just happen, and that hard work, patience, and luck are all needed.
Jason’s work ethic, leadership, and ability to proactively adapt to situations as they arise make us proud to have him on our team, and we look forward to even more of his outstanding contributions in the future.
